FAQs

Is Dr. Kumar a urogynecologist?

Dr. Kumar is a urologist, and is board certified by the American Board of Urology. A urogynecologist refers to a doctor who has done a residency training in either gynecology or urology and then a special fellowship and board certification in “Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.” There is considerable overlap in what a urologist and a urogynecologist does, because both treat the urinary tract. Dr. Kumar will refer you to an FPMRS subspecialist if she feels you need a surgical procedure that only an FPMRS trained surgeon should do.

Does Dr. Kumar perform procedures in the office?

Yes, Dr. Kumar does Viveve, Mona Lisa Touch, Botox, cystoscopy, urethral dilations, biopsies, and injection of bulking agents or steroids in the office, using local anesthesia. If it is felt that a procedure for you would be better under stronger anesthesia, this can always be arranged.
