Board-certified urology care in New York City

At Women’s Urology New York, our goal is to offer compassionate, comprehensive, and evidence-based genitourinary care for women. After practicing urology in both private group and hospital-based settings, Dr. Angelish Kumar recognized the need to redesign the urology experience for women, and create a welcoming space where women could receive high quality information and state of the art treatment options. We place patient education and comfort at the core of the relationship and emphasize the importance of making informed decisions. We respect each person’s individual philosophies and preferences, and tailor treatment plans based on the discussion between the doctor and the patient. We also seek to provide convenience in communicating with the office and scheduling appointments, so patients can avoid having to navigate through the complexities of a large medical system.

As a board certified urologist, Dr. Kumar specializes in urologic issues such as recurrent urinary tract infections, urinary frequency and urgency (overactive bladder), leakage of urine with activity or bearing down (stress incontinence), painful bladder syndrome (interstitial cystitis), pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, problems emptying the bladder, vaginal laxity, and genitourinary syndrome of menopause. She also diagnoses and treats patients with general urologic conditions such as microscopic hematuria (blood in the urine), kidney stones, and bladder cancer.

Because many issues affecting the bladder occur in women in conjunction with being post-natal, peri-menopausal or post-menopausal, Dr. Kumar aims to address underlying factors which may be contributing to the problem, focusing on holistic, behavioral, physical therapy and minimally invasive procedures before recommending medications and surgery.

At Women’s Urology New York, in addition to diagnosing and treating urinary problems, we also aim to connect women with products and services that have been vetted by Dr. Kumar so our patients feel educated about the full armamentarium of their options, and can be offered the most practical and effective treatment.
